Purpose:
To enhance public safety and court appearance by assisting judicial officers in making objectives, risk-based decision regarding pretrial release and ensuring compliance with conditions of bail.
The goal of pretrial supervision is to ensure that the defendant returns to Court and remains crime-free while under supervision. This is accomplished by administering a risk assessment, maintaining contact with the defendant based on determined risk level, and making referrals to treatment, education or support services when ordered by the court as a condition of bond. Defendants are required to adhere to conditions of bond and supervision. Noncompliance is reported to the court and a defendant’s bond is subject to revocation.
Some conditions of bond may include: curfew, alcohol/drug testing, referral for services, home electronic monitoring and scram.
