City hires new HR Director 2.21.23
The City has hired Tyrome Alexander as the Director of Human Resources. Mr. Alexander is a certified and experienced leader in human resources with specialized knowledge in health care, higher education, and nonprofits.
“We are thrilled to have someone with Mr. Alexander’s expertise as a part of our team. As we continue redefining what HR looks like for the future, his leadership will be invaluable as the City of Richmond works towards our goal of becoming an employer of choice,” said CAO Lincoln Saunders.
Mr. Alexander has a Bachelor of Arts in political science from The Ohio State University and a Master of Business Administration from Ohio Dominican University. Tyrome most recently served as the Director of Human Resources for the City of Toledo, Ohio. Prior to his work with the City of Toledo, he served as the HR Director of IMPACT Community Action; Human Resources Manager for the Columbus Metropolitan Library System; and in various HR positions at The Ohio State University, including its Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
Additionally, Mr. Alexander holds senior certified human resources professional designations through the International Personnel Management Association for
Human Resources (IPMA-SCP) and the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM-SCP); and Professional in Human Resources (PHR) credentials through the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).
Tyrome Alexander will join the City’s administrative team on February 27, 2023, and report to Sabrina Joy-Hogg, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for the Finance and Administration Portfolio.
