The City of Richmond Office of Elections is excited to announce, in partnership with Richmond Public Schools,  our first ever “I Voted” Sticker Contest. The purpose of this contest is to generate excitement about a new “I VOTED” sticker while encouraging our high school students to become engaged in the voting process. The winning design will be used for the next 3 years.

How to Enter: The contest will open on April 10, 2023 and will close at 5:00 p.m. on May 12, 2023. Participants must agree to the official contest rules, completing a “Sticker Contest” entry form and submitting a design via email to stickercontest@rva.gov.

How It Works: Our office will review all entries submitted and vote internally on the four best designs. Submissions will be judged based on creativity, uniqueness, and originality. The top four finalists will be notified via email that they have advanced to the next round. RPS high school students will then vote to choose the winning design which will be converted into a sticker to be used in future elections. To encourage voter participation, this contest will feature a mock election. A special ballot with the designs from the top four finalists will be delivered to RPS high schools during the last week of May. City of Richmond poll workers will be on hand to conduct this mock election. They will check students in on poll books (i.e. a roster with the names of every student at the high school). This will be done to ensure fairness so that students can only vote once. Afterwards, they will then be allowed to scan their ballots into the DS200, which is the voting machine used by voters in the city of Richmond. After each student votes, they will receive an “I VOTED” sticker. Results tapes from the DS200 will be printed by office staff once voting has concluded. These tapes will be used to determine the winner, who will be announced publicly on the morning of Friday June 9th.

Eligibility: This contest is open to Richmond Public Schools high school students. Multiple entries are not permitted.
